Abstract	Sediment samples from the Banda Sea were clustered according to the percentages of the different morphotypes of copepod egg-envelopes they contained. The clustering indicates a geographically distinct cluster determined by the occurrence of higher percentages of a single type of copepod egg envelope. It may be indicative of the influence of Equatorial Indian Ocean surface water, notably in the southwestern part of the Banda Sea that is not affected by upwelling.
