Abstract	Scolecodonts found in Cainozoic palynological and palaeontological samples from Jamaica are compared with dispersed scolecodonts from Tertiary strata in France. The problem of delimiting species and genera is discussed in view of the variability observed in Recent polychaete annelids and of the dissimilar populations found in the two regions.
