Abstract	The taxonomy of the Ropalidia malayana-complex is reconsidered after studying mainly the specimens examined by van der Vecht (1941, 1962) and housed in the Nationaal Natuurhistorisch Museum, Leiden. The complex is shown to consist of three species: R. malayana (Cameron, 1903) [= R. parvimaculata (Cameron, 1907), = R. delicata Dover, 1931], R. erythrospila (Cameron, 1908) and R. pseudomalayana spec. nov. The last species is described from Borneo.
