Abstract	In the present study, a new endemic gammarid amphipod, Gammarus balutchi spec. nov. is described from Charmahal-Va-Bakhteyari province, Iran. A description is given using light and electron microscopes. Comparison of SEM micrographs shows that pore density and patterns are reliable diagnostic characters at the species level based on ultrastructural study of the head.
