Abstract	Because Jerdon’s Second Supplement, published in 1845, reflects an exchange of information with Edward Blyth, the date of issue requires interpretation to position it in relation to several papers that year by Blyth. The evidence suggests that we should accept that it appeared soon after 9th August 1845. The only names potentially affected by this resolution are the generic name Phragamaticola the establishment of which is reviewed, and Phragamaticola olivacea ‘Blyth’ Jerdon, which is in synonymy.
