Abstract	Isarachnanthus specimens from different localities in the Central Atlantic and Caribbean regions were studied. All examined specimens belong to one widely distributed shallow water species, Isarachnanthus maderensis (Johnson, 1861). The synonymy of this species and possible reasons for such a wide distribution are discussed. Isarachnactis lobiancoi (Carlgren, 1912) may be a larval form of I. maderensis.
