| Abstract | A new species of azooxanthellate Scleractinia, Sphenotrochus denhartogi, is described from the Late Miocene (Tortonian, Navidad Formation) of Chile. Comparisons are made to three other closely related species which, based on their distinctive costal morphology, form a species complex: S. claibornensis, S. senni, S. denhartogi, and S. auritus. This is the first record of Sphenotrochus from the west coast of South America. |
