AbstractThe genus Sphegina Meigen, 1822 in the Netherlands (Diptera: Syrphidae)
A survey of the genus Sphegina in the Netherlands is given. Some nomenclatural changes are indicated, which resulted in the following five species which are now known from the Netherlands: Sphegina clavata (Scopoli, 1763), Sphegina clunipes (Fallén, 1817), Sphegina elegans (Schummel, 1843), Sphegina sibirica Stackelberg, 1953 and Sphegina verecunda Collin, 1937. Some of the rarer species were confused with other species in the past or overlooked in the field. Several collections were re-examined and new records were gathered. This resulted in new distribution maps for the Dutch species and a description of the habitats.
