|Abstract||Dasysyrphus lenensis in the Netherlands (Diptera: Syrphidae) |
Dasysyrphus lenensis Bagatshanova has been described from Eastern Siberia in 1980, but would remain overlooked in Europe until 1996. After the species had been reported from Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, examination of Dutch collections revealed its presence in the Netherlands. The specimens have been collected in de Veluwe (the central part of the country) and Zuid-Limburg (the southernmost part of the country). Compared with the closely related species D. pauxillus and D. pinastri it seems to be very rare: the total number of known Dutch specimens is seven. A key is given for the identification of species from the D. pinastri-group.
