| Abstract | Two species of hoverflies added to the Dutch list (Diptera: Syrphidae) Chrysogaster basalis Loew, 1857 and Chrysotoxum elegans Loew, 1841 are recorded for the first time for the fauna of the Netherlands. Both species were found in the southern part of the province Limburg, the southernmost part of the country. A female of C. basalis was collected on 24.vii.1999 on the flowers of Daucus carota along chalk grassland. A male of C. elegans was collected on 14.viii.2002 in a heathland area. Both species have a southern distribution in Europe and the Dutch records mark the northern boundaries of their ranges. |
