Abstract	The taxonomic problems concerning freshwater crabs of the genus Archipelothelphusa Bott, 1969 (Gecarcinucoidea: Sundathelphusidae) are discussed. The identity of Para-Bary-thelphusa grapsoides subsp. longipes Balss, 1937, is clarified, and a new species, A. celer spec. nov. is described from Luzon, Philippines.
