Abstract	The complex history of the nomenclature of the Malayan and Greater Sundan population of Cyornis unicolor is discussed and corrections to type localities relating to two names are provided. The whereabouts of critical type material is revealed and a lectotype is designated. Information given by Watson et al. (1986) is thus amended.
