Abstract	A biostratigraphical subdivision of the Holocene deposits of Hungary is presented. For the medium high mountain ranges four assemblage zones are proposed, based on terrestrial molluscs. Also for the subsided areas four such zones are introduced, based on the freshwater molluscs.
