| Abstract | The 'real' Brachyopa dorsata in the Netherlands after 39 years (Diptera: Syrphidae) The hoverfly Brachyopa dorsata Zetterstedt, 1837 was already mentioned for the Netherlands by Van Aartsen (1970), based on a specimen from 1968, which later proved to belong to B. panzeri Goffe, 1945. On April 21, 2007, a male B. dorsata was collected from the flowers of Prunus padus in the north-western part of the Veluwe. The locality is part of a large mixed forest complex, dominated by old beeches. This is the first record of B. dorsata for the Netherlands. The species was expected, for it is known from a small number of localities in adjacent parts of Germany. |
