The paper wasps Polistes dominulus and P. biglumis are expanding their range in the Netherlands (Hymenoptera: Vespidae) Historic references to the occurrence of paper wasps in the Netherlands are scarce and rather vague. Recently many records of Polistes dominulus and P. biglumis have been gathered and both species are now clearly part of the Dutch fauna. Polistes biglumis is restricted to the extreme south of the province of Limburg, but P. dominulus has expanded over the southern part of the country.
