The Dutch material of the family Heteroceridae (Coleoptera) has been examined. A checklist of and a key to the species of the Netherlands and adjacent regions are given. The male genitalia are figured. The distribution of the species in the Netherlands is recorded and mapped. Some ecological notes are added. It is observed that Heterocerus fenestratus (Thunberg) and H. fusculus Kiesenwetter are indistinguishable in the Netherlands.
