Holotype, ♀ / Moiwa / 13/IX.1903 / Simaethis moiwana Mats. (all three labels written in black ink) / (A red rectangular empty label) /. The specimen is pinned but not spread and lacks the abdomen. Otherwise it apparently is in good condition and shows the characteristic pattern of the fore wing of the present species, proving its identity.
