Fieldwork in French “départements” along the Atlantic coast from southern Brittany to the northern part of the Aquitaine Basin, revealed 324 inland and brackish localities with gammarids. Particularly interesting are 21 new stations of Echinogammarus spinulicornis (which was known from 3 places only, all more to the south). This species prefers the mid-course of rivers, especially habitats without vegetation. Gammarus zaddachi is recorded for the first time south of the Loire.
