On Lithobiidae from Sardinia (Chilopoda: Lithobiomorpha)

Six species of Lithobiidae are recorded from Sardinia and are also described. Lithobius castaneus, Lithobius tricuspis and Lithobius crassipes have been recorded from the island by previous authors. The probability of Eupolybothrus impressus and Lithobius lapidicola being among those species previously recorded is discussed. Lithobius pilicornis doriae is recorded from Sardinia for the first time. Lithobius turritanus Fanzago is proposed as a junior synonym of Lithobius tricuspis Meinert. There is insufficient evidence to conclude that the Sardinian forms of any of these species differ subspecifically from those occurring on the mainland.
