Eleven species of Gammaridae, belonging to six genera, have been recorded from Corsica. Of these, only three are purely limnic, all others are found in mixohaline habitats. The three limnic species show a clear systematic relationship to italian taxa; the mixohaline species are of a circum-mediterranean type. Apart from two apparently endemic species of the genus Niphargus, there is no pronounced endemism in the corsican Gammaridae.
