Talorchestia frisiae, described by Klein, 1969, as a distinct species, actually is a juvenile stage of T. deshayesii, as could be shown in cultures by the transition of the frisiae morphology into a deshayesii one. Meristic data and the composition of natural populations point into the same direction.
