The Cicar-project (Cooperative Investigations in the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions project) offered an opportunity to collect epiplanktonic animals in the Southern part of the Caribbean Sea and in water north of Guyana in the Atlantic, to study the precise distribution of some groups in the area. All the Cicar planktonsamples were taken in superficial waters, mostly at depths not exceeding 6 m, but at some stations at depths of 10, 13 or 18 m (c.f. Cicar First Interim Report ITZ, 1971).
