AbstractReport on a thick-stemmed ‘schopfbaum’ with very large leaves, hanging globose inflorescences densely packed with flowers 1.5 cm long, in the montane zone. The first species of this habit in mainland New Guinea of a genus centered in New Caledonia and Fiji.
