In this revision 4 native species are recorded from Australia, among which 3 are new to science. Of the well-known Aponogeton elongatus F. v. M. ex Bth. 3 new forms are distinguished. Furthermore one S. African species, A. distachyon L. f. is cultivated and to some extent naturalized in Victoria. A key is provided to these 5 species. A possible sixth species, probably provenant from Queensland, is in cultivation but is yet only known in sterile state. Figures and an identification list of material studied are provided.
