AbstractWhat was formerly known in Malesia as Luzula campestris (Linné) DC. var. australasica (Steud.) Buch. (Juncaceae) actually consists of two endemic species, one in the Philippines, the other in New Guinea. L. australasica s.s. is endemic to Tasmania, while a subspecies occurs in New South Wales and Victoria. For the latter a new combination is proposed. Recent misapplications of the name L. australasica Steud., L. oldfieldii Hook.f., and L. modesta Buch. are corrected.
