Germinative seeds of a few weeds in soil samples of a former arable field in Zuid-Limburg

Germinative seeds of Linaria elatine (L.) Mill., L. spuria (L.) Mill. and Valerianella dentata (L.) Poll. were found in soil samples of a chalk grassland on the Vrakelberg in the southern part of the province Limburg. This grassland was still in use as an arable field about 20 years ago. The authors suggest to restore the plant communities of calcicole cornfields by ploughing this type of scientifically low valued chalk grassland.
