A survey is presented of the vegetation of the Netherlands part of the phytogeographical Flanders District. Apart from the small wetland area ‘Kriekeputten’ very little of the original vegetation is left. 85 Taxa are considered characteristic for the Flanders District in the province of Zeeland. Before the inventory work of A. de Visser started, already 20 species became extinct in the area. In the last 15 years another 13 species have vanished. All 33 species are characteristic of soils poor in nutrients or of oligotrophic waters. Most of the remaining characteristic species are threatened.
