A new locality of the charophyte Nitella translucens (Persoon) Agardh in the Netherlands

In the summer of 1988 Nitella translucens was found in a ditch influenced by seepage water, near Hilversum in the province of Noord-Holland. Whereas in the past several localities of this species were known, in the present decade it appears to be very rare in the Netherlands. Apart from the newly discovered station, only two of the ‘older’ stations still contain N. translucens.
