The development of wall layers and ornamentation of ascospores is studied with the electron microscope in members of the Otideaceae and Pezizaceae. Primary wall, endospore, and epispore develop in the same way as in Ascodesmis and the Pyronemataceae; the development of the secondary wall and the formation of the patterns of ornamentation resemble that in the Pyronemataceae. Special attention is paid to specialized plasmic structures.
