The Government of Indonesia had received a grant of US$7.2 dollars from GEF through the World Bank and this grant was supplemented by US$4.2 million from the Indonesian Government for the biodiversity collections project at Puslitbang Biologi. A similar proposal will be submitted to the World Bank/GEF for a coral reef project. The MacArthur Foundation is being asked to support an ethnobotanical workshop in 1996 covering Indonesia, Philippines, and Malaysia. ITTO support is channeled through the respective countries and requires long term lobbying. The Lae Herbarium had been given a grant for $100,000 per year for 3-years by the MacArthur Foundation to upgrade collections and mount unprocessed specimens.
